Uniforms for Nurses and Midwives - Queensland Health
Queensland Health allows scrubs to be worn by nurses and midwives as long as the Queensland Government logo is featured on the left chest. Queensland Health employees have the option of adding an identifier (their unit name/ occupation) on the right chest of their scrubs. Infectious scrubs uses the correct font for the Qld health logo as approved by the Queensland Government design department. The Queenland coat of arms is no longer accepted on Queensland Health uniforms or nurses scrubs.
Uniforms that have an embroidered logo not only look very professional but help staff, patients and family to know who they are and what their role / occupation is. In fact uniforms and identification were key recommendations of the Garling report into public health 2009. Mr Garling recommended hospital staff wear colour-coded uniforms designating their particular ward and role to reduce confusion among patients. If staff and patients know who is who this improves communication and team work in public hospitals.
