International Nurses Day (IND) is an international day celebrated around the world on 12 May of each year, to mark the contributions nurses make to society.

In January 1974, 12 May was chosen to celebrate the day as it is the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, who is widely considered the founder of modern nursing. Each year, ICN prepares and distributes the International Nurses' Day Kit. The kit contains educational and public information materials, for use by nurses everywhere.

Modern nursing has come a long way since Florence Nightingale with nursing becoming its own profession with high standards of education and evidence-based practice. There are nursing schools. Nursing is a profession within the healthcare sector focused on the care of individuals, families, and communities so they may attain, maintain, or recover optimal health and quality of life.

Infectious hopes that everyone in our community takes time on the 12th of May to reflect on all the work that nurses do every day and every night caring for people in need. Of course, our core business is supplying nurses with scrub uniforms and if any nurses are looking for new uniforms we would love to meet you in person at our scrubs store in Buderim, on the lovely Sunshine Coast in Queensland. Come in a try on some top-quality nurses scrubs you will be happy that you did.

For those nurses who might live in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne it's just as easy to buy new nurses uniforms online. Just jump on our online scrubs store www.infectious.com.au You will find it easy to select a scrub top and matching scrub pants and you can also choose to customise your scrubs with a hospital logo or even your name and designation. Celebrate Nurses this 12th of May - They deserve it!

The aim of the nursing community worldwide is for its professionals to ensure quality care for all while maintaining their credentials, code of ethics, standards, and competencies, and continuing their education. There are a number of educational paths to becoming a professional nurse, which vary greatly worldwide; all involve extensive study of nursing theory and practice as well as training in clinical skills. Infectious recommends connecting with Free Open Access Nursing Education

#FOANED (FREE OPEN ACCESS NURSING EDUCATION):

By identifying useful information social media that is of significance to our practice with a recognised hashtag, we are able to easily move from browsing aunt Anne’s holiday snaps or funny nursing memes to quality educational resources. And back again.

The #FOANed hashtag also gives individuals the ability to produce, collate and share links to information that might be of interest to other nurses.
